Erik and Sarah were living on the West Coast before moving to NYC in their Orange van Garfield. They took their time – a couple of months – to make it East, stopping along the way whenever the mood struck them.
They contacted me some time in the middle of this road trip, asking me if I could document their elopement once they arrive in New-York; they wanted to celebrate their move to the city with their wedding. How sweet!
We settled on a date in November, which ended up being a perfect sunny and warm day. Sarah got ready in their new home while Erik met me with Garfield the van in Brooklyn Heights. We waited for Sarah to arrive, took some portraits with Garfield and Manhattan in the background, then drove to Dumbo for some more portraits. We parked Garfield in a parking lot and then we headed to the waterfront, where their friend and officiant was waiting for them.
We had timed it perfectly, because we were graced with the most amazing light as the sun set behind the buildings of Manhattan. The ceremony was heartfelt and beautiful, and everyone in attendance cried (all 5 of us).
After their ceremony, we headed to the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge for some post-ceremony drinks and a very cute impromptu speech from their officiant.
It was a perfect day with the loveliest people celebrating their love, their friendships, and the new city they now call home. Congrats Erik and Sarah!
